Since 2007, we’ve nurtured soulful dance culture in Honolulu, bringing people together across generations through house music, dance and art. Rooted in Hawaiʻi and known in the wider house community, we’ve welcomed artists, dancers, music lovers and everyone in between from around the world to share in the warmth, connection and joy of the Soulgasm dance floor.

We’re calling everyone across Hawaiʻi and beyond to celebrate nineteen years with us. Whether you’ve been with us since the early years, joined recently or are coming for the first time, there’s space for everyone on our dance floor. Come as you are and move freely in the big room, with great sound and a wide open floor.

TAKAYA NAGASE

We’re honored to welcome our ʻohana, DJ and producer Takaya Nagase, back to Honolulu from New York to headline our 19th Anniversary Celebration. Those who’ve heard him play at Soulgasm know his incredible ear, the depth of his selections and the care he brings to sound. He lets a set unfold in a way that draws you in and carries the dance floor right through to the last record. Born in Japan and based in New York, Takaya was part of JOY, a party created with friends from The Loft community, where he helped shape the sound and musical flow of the night. He plays in New York and internationally, and his monthly show World Galaxy on The Lot Radio brings together soulful and spiritual music across styles, eras and places. His production projects include Hapa with Eric Pecoraro and Domo Domo with Yas Inoue, whose rework of The Voltage Brothers’ “Happening In The Streets” came out on Louie Vega’s Vega Records and played by DJs around the world.

MATT KEE
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Matt Kee began DJing in 1991, expanding from hip hop, funk and soul into house, breaks, acid jazz and downtempo. Based in Hawaiʻi since 2003, he has held Honolulu club residencies and hosted “It Takes Two” on KTUH. Part of Soulgasm and Soulgasm After Hours since 2010, his selections cross genres, generations and continents.

GLOBES
Part of the Soulgasm community since its earlier years, Globes was inspired thrrough hearing some of the sounds while attending the party. He co-founded monthly events at Bevy and Electron, was part of Purple Room and continues to hold it down for Nerd Nite Honolulu. He made guest appearances at parties around Honolulu, including Soulgasm, before joining our roster of DJs. His selections span deep, funky, soulful and Afro house to disco house and beyond.

JEROME JAMES
Accomplished drummer, percussionist, producer, music educator and owner of Nu Directions Studio, Jerome James works across festivals, ecstatic dance gatherings and jazz performances around Honolulu, including at Blue Note Waikiki with Jerome James & Friends. He has played for Soulgasm since its early years, accompanying DJs, vocalists and fellow musicians. He also presented original music with founder Lyanne Brooks as Brooks N James at a previous anniversary.

FLYING IN FROM LOS ANGELES, THE MIGHTY GIANTS LIVE!

Born and raised on Oʻahu, Woes is a visual artist whose pandas have left their mark worldwide on murals, canvases, designer toys and streetwear, with collaborations including Converse, Disney, Toyota and Kidrobot. Beyond the paint, he is a deep crate digger and house music lover connected to underground communities of turntablists, DJs and dancers. Longtime Soulgasm ʻohana, he has shared his artistry through live painting, time on the dance floor and selections behind the decks.

JAYSKI
Jayski began DJing in the mid ’80s with KAOS Productions before becoming a founding member of LA’s DP Sound, known for its BRIDGES residency spanning more than 15 years. Part of The Mighty Giants, he has shared stages with KRS-One, Digable Planets and George Clinton, bridging music, graphic design and culture.
